"Bucky" The Buckminster Fuller Story

A dramatic bio-picture based on the incredible life of one of the world's great visionaries and futurists Buckminster Fuller...or "Bucky" as he was affectionately known.

This is a story of personal struggle and ultimate victory over oneself and the tremendous impact that such a victory can have on one's personal achievement as well as the level of contribution to  family, community, country and the entire world.
I learned of "Bucky" through my partner in Singapore and later through the "Money and You" program and was terribly moved by the story of how he squandered his family's money partying instead of attending to his studies at Harvard University. His playboy lifestyle didn't change even after marrying Anne Hewlett and having their first daughter - Alexandra. To him, life was one big party...meant for his own enjoyment and pleasure until, on the heels of a broken promise, Alexandra died on her 4th birthday. Broken in every sense of the word, Bucky at the age of 32 had enough of himself and was prepared to commit suicide. Something spoke to him. Perhaps it was the voice of the infinite intelligence. "You do not have the right to eliminate yourself, you do not belong to you. You belong to the universe and the significance of you will remain forever obscure to you, but you may assume you're fulfilling your significance if you apply yourself to converting all your experience to the highest advantage of others."

At that moment, he resolved to monitor his own thoughts very carefully...even to the extent of not speaking a word to any one for 2 years. He realized his life could be utilized for contribution and service to others. He set himself on a diligent course of self-improvement and discovery...the result of which continues to positively impact people all over this "beautiful little spaceship Earth."

"Bucky" is the story of fighting one's own personal demons. It is a compelling drama of private struggle and ultimate triumph, a story or hope and forgiveness. Through Bucky's story, we are reminded that love can endure, prevail and help us grow.
"Don't pay attention to what people say. What you think is the most important thing. Pay attention to your own thoughts."
